Briggs & Stratton 4HP 10CID Engine Simplicity Sno-Away

This is a Briggs & Stratton 4HP Model 100202-0180-01-6803227 From my Sno-Away When I restored it last Summer. When This was made I just finished the paint & Decals. I had already upgraded it to a Magnetron Ignition (Eliminating the Breaker Points) & Rebuilt the Carburetor. As you can hear it is VERY Healthy!

    That is a 1968 model

  3. KartRacer695 says:

that sounds pretty good for its age (1968) i got a 1972 2HP briggs, not much younger

The Pre 1980′s Briggs tended to hold up a little better. I have a 1&9/10′s HP Briggs from the 1940s that RAN Awesome One of these days I’ll toss a Points and Condenser in it and fire it up.

    nice

I have a late 70′s 5HP Briggs I have Mothballed too. That OLD 1940′s Briggs came off a RARE Lawn mower. Hahn Eclipse Rocket.. Look it up! Shame I could have printed a mint with it.. Dad Chopped it up for scrap. At least he kept the engine

  7. KartRacer695 says:

yea definatly keeping he engines is good!

  8. sonofjabba says:

It was one of those Rotary Tine Mowers (Self Propelled) From the 40′s It was in VERY Restorable shape before he chopped it up.. I think I’ll go cry now… LOL

  9. KartRacer695 says:

man that sucks, i would of kept the engine and put it in a go-kart and sell the mower part seperete

Never Got into Carts. I’d love to get something like an old FatCat MiniBike with a Huge One Lung Wisconsin Engine on it. I’m still shocked at how well the 99 dollar chinese engines from Horror Freight run!

  11. KartRacer695 says:

yea i got a honda clone to, check it out. go to private message now lol u got a page of our comments

  12. Nec1228 says:

I have one of these on my Minibike, the gastank to carb casket leaks all over the tank, that being the reason its caught fire twice when the engine backfired. I need a new tank for it because the ones i have now are craked very badly but i just cant get enough of the sound of these motors!

  13. northerbrewer says:

    They were not that good.

And not as long lived as the old cast iron series engines. Not was well made as a Honda G series flat head but better than say a Clinton 4 stroke

  14. krankiev says:

exhaust looking nice and sounds good too :)

  15. kjs12224 says:

i have the same one it was on a snowblower too mine is going on my go kart or my minibike

  16. portelas1 says:

to start the engine when cold do you push the choke in or do pull out
    thank you

  17. sonofjabba says:

    Pull Out. :)

good job on restoring that engine how long did it take u

  19. briggsman5s says:

can u make these faster ? if so let me no i have some ? for u

  20. sada3393 says:

you cant use an air filter with snow your engine will die snow will melt in airfilter and water will go in engine cold weather engines have no airfilter

  21. frosty9595 says:

@sada3393 Bullshit. First of all their are snow engines with air filters. Hell even cars run fine all winter with air filters. Seccond of all the air filters inlets are facing down so snow wont accumulate on it…. But your a fucking idoit if you leave your engines outside anyways. Third and finally their is no possible way you could get enough snow to melt fast enough to hydrolock a engine… a little water will actually help the engine by steaming out carbon.

  22. sada3393 says:

@frosty9595 o.O steaming out carbon… wtf are you smoking. and yes their is an airfilter in your car because its in a air box inside the hood and the air is going through the right or left headlight and in. in a 8 horse briggs and stratton snow blower their is no air filter on any snow thrower less than 15hp never seen any bigger yet. have all just been open carbs. and you cant steam out carbon ill post my 1969 briggs restore and wel see what you got.

  23. sada3393 says:

@sada3393 i could be wrong about the airfilter on the older ones before 1980 they had you oil the air filter so that could affect it but i dont know if that would stop the water.

  24. Steven715715 says:

Very well restored, It looks as good as new I had to have a second Look Well done!! Thums Up. Steve.

  25. outdoorsman310 says:

@sonofjabba do you have to fool with the choke?
