Pro-Line Desert Rat
This is an air brushed Pro-Line Desert Rat body. This is my first body I have ever done. As some might not know the body is painted from the inside (if you are looking into rc body painting). When I chose this body I was looking for a sleek race style. The guy at hobbytown usa recommended it because it was what I was looking for and it was their best seller. As he was explaining how to paint it he showed me some decals. I chose ones from a company called Jackal (if you were wondering). Well I completely forgot to check to see if it was a 3.3 and not a 2.5, so this is a 2.5 drilled to fit a 3.3. For beginners I used a lexan drill bit to drill the body mount holes and a dremel for the rest. Then I used my internal decal kit, these decals where like temporary tattoos. After I put the decals on I started to paint. I used Testors R/C paint. I first outlined the decals with siver (you can really use any color but if u want to bring out the decal more use a lighter color). GENERALLY: you are supposed to start with the darker colors and work your way light but i didnt’t. Second i colored most of the top black and partially the sides the get an even blend with the red i put on. On the transition points of red to silver, black to silver, and red to black, I used a fading technique that really isn’t too visible in the video but I tried to capture it.
