racing decals stickers
What are the legal things should I know before putting a name on my race team?
I will not be opening a business with that name. I'll make t-shirts and a decal sticker to go on the quad. and possibly giving away shirts, but I do not think I'll sell something. Are there any copyright laws or something like that, should I know?
Copyright does not protect names. http://www.copyright.gov/circs/circ34.html Marks, however, can protect the names that serve as a source of goods or services. If you intend to use a particular name as a trademark, you may consider a search for prior marks, although this is not always necessary, I strongly suggest you contact a lawyer at the mark assistance. Based on erroneous advice, such as poster boards, Jack, above me, can only hurt you. It is better to do things correctly from the beginning, before investing lots of money on t-shirts, stickers, etc..
