Need for Speed: Underground 2

Plot
Need For Speed Underground 2 takes place in Bayview after the events of Need for Speed: Underground. The prologue begins with the player driving a Nissan Skyline in the Olympic city, the setting of NFS: UG (although the scenes are actually racing in Bayview). Receives then a challenge to race from a rather disturbing personality who offers him a place in his team, but "will not take no for an answer." Races player off, despite warnings from Samantha should be ambushed by a mysterious driver rage that totals his Skyline. The driver which has a unique tattoo false, makes a call confirming the accident, and the flashback off.
Fast forward to today, where we see the player arriving at Bayview by air, with a note from Samantha him referring to his girlfriend (voiced by Brooke Burke) Rachel, who will set the player upstairs. It also has the keys to the Nissan 350Z Rachel, who was waiting outside the airport. The player then has the opportunity to fill in a few races car before inevitably returning to the car lot, where Rachel will give him a good dose of being late before allowing him to choose his first vehicle. It is free, as it was paid by the insurance player of his totaled Skyline.
Then the player embarks on a quest to become the top racer in Bayview and eventually take to the man who sabotaged his ride in the flashback, which turns out to be Caleb. After have won many races, the player runs into Caleb racing Street, The Wraith. The crew has even vinyl, paint and rim together. Player who challenges a series of URL (Underground Racing League) races and eventually gets Caleb's second in command, Nikki, to join his side. Rachel tells the player that Caleb has been manipulating the sponsorship deals throughout Bayview to him. After the player beats the Wraith, a furious Caleb challenges the player A final race was his custom Pontiac GTO. The reward for beating the game is all cars and nearly all parties, but the player is unfortunately Caleb not GTO. But to beat the game 100%, the player must go back and race events on the world map in the garage of the player. Gameplay
In the game Need for Speed: Underground 2 screenshot where the races are almost similar to the metro and still revolves around cultural import.
In addition to race modes included in the Subway previous game (Circuit, Sprint, Drag and Drift races), four new variants of races have been provided in Underground 2. A racing mode has been abandoned, what is the knockout competition. However, a round Knockout option is available when the circuit races in non-racing career.
A race is a race circuit standard contains up to four cars driving around a track that loops back to start line itself. A race circuit is usually a maximum of four towers and a minimum of 2 laps. A sprint is a race circuit, except that the runway has no feedback loop to the starting line. It is a race of A to B with a maximum of four vehicles, and because the design of track there is a single lap. Drifting is one of the easiest kinds race (depending on difficulty level) in need for Speed Underground 2. A difference in fashion to the deviation from the necessity of origin for Speed Underground is that the player drifts with other competitors in the same time. Players race against a maximum of three competitors. Points are awarded the player managed to drag the car and ended the drift without hitting any walls.Like mode of X Street in Underground 2, no nitrous oxide is allowed. It is also something special downhill drift races where the player starts at the top of a hill and must get up and down, an equivalent to the drift a sprint race (from point A to point B). In these races, there are no other runners, but it is normal for city traffic. Players increase their points by dragging the city cars past. Drag races are a race point-to-point which forces players to use a manual transmission. Director in this mode is simplified to simply reflect changes in line, while the game handles the direction along the lines, and the player focuses more on maintain an optimum speed for the car. The meter of nitrous oxide is enlarged and displayed in the bottom right of the screen.
While cruising around the city, players can challenge other opponents cruise in a head-to-one race. The leader is given the freedom to choose their route race, and must try to overcome the enemy and stand him at least 300 meters (1000 feet) to win. This formula is similar to race of Tokyo Xtreme Racer video games and Wangan Midnight, which uses health bars instead of distance to determine the winner. Once a certain number of victories were won by the player at certain levels, the player is given a unique role for free by another runner.
SUV, also known as vehicles SUVs, is a new feature for Need For Speed: Underground 2. In this way, players can modify, tune, drive vans and SUVs in the same way they could with normal cars. Players can choose to race in an event with only SUV or a mixture of cars and SUVs. Like cars, users are able to add parts of SUVs increase their performance and handling, however, the extra weight of SUVs, which makes them much more difficult to maneuver, especially at high speeds. SUVs are not recommended in subsequent editions of the series Need For Speed (except vehicles Police non-playable), making them exclusively for Need For Speed: Underground 2.
Metro Racing League (URL)
The URL is a set of tournaments which takes place in a specific set of closed tracks outside city streets – or the race track real or airport runways. URL tournaments usually composed one to three races, with players racing against five opponents. In tournaments with two or more races, a point system is used. At the end of each race, drivers receive a set amount of points depending on their position in a race. The total score at the end of these races determines the winner of the tournament.
Online multiplayer
Need For Speed Underground 2 online multiplayer capacity on PlayStation 2 with broadband connections, and using Xbox Xbox Live. EA's online service has since been disabled, the last disconnect servers in 2007.
Car
As in Need for Speed: Underground Underground 2 continues to offer the same vehicles for the purchase and modification, most of which consist of Japanese models, with a significant number of European and American models. In addition, Underground 2 is the only game to the need for speed series so far as to offer three SUV vehicles racing, which can be amended more frequently than their counterparts compact. Total of 29 models of vehicles are available for both versions of the game plus 2 single for each of them, the PAL version of the game offers two other cars (Peugeot 106 and Opel Corsa), while the NTSC version offers two different alternatives (Acura RSX and Honda Civic).

Customization in Underground 2 has been significantly expanded over previous iterations of the series. visual customization was developed with the possibility personalize the front car and rear bumper, side skirts, spoiler, hood, exhaust tips, doors, roof scoops, wheels (including the ability to put on spinners), headlights and tail lights, mirrors and painting. Vinyls and stickers can also be added, and car radios (amps and speakers), the hydraulic cylinders of nitrogen and neon Underglow. Most visual modifications to the car has no real effect on vehicle performance. Sound systems, for example, could be put in the trunk of cars, but no use anything other than the visual references. The performance and handling of the car is affected by cosmetic changes like spoilers and hoods, affecting the support of the car.
The performance of the car can also be enhanced by improving the engine of the car, control unit Engine (ECU), transmission, suspension, adding nitrous oxide, tires, brakes, reducing the weight of the car, and the addition of turbos. Player has the ability to upgrade performance through upgrade packages or buying individual pieces of each performance category.
NFS: Underground 2 also introduces a system of adjusting bench that allows players to fine tune certain aspects of the car such as springs Suspension front / rear shock absorbers train ratios, aerodynamics, brake balance, the adhesion of different tires, etc. The player could then test the setting by a dyno test how they would be given specific information such as 0 60 times the maximum torque, etc.
Reception
The game sold 9 million copies, and entering the "bestsellers" of each console (PS2 Greatest Hits, Platinum Hits Xbox and GameCube Player's Choice).
Reviews have been positive, but many elements have been criticized as having to drive excessive to go to the races, bland voice quality and robust product placement for companies with no ties to racing, such as integration Cingular's logo, a U.S. wireless communications system in the game messaging and display on the screen for a large part of the gameplay. The GameCube version has also been criticized for its unstable frame rate and graphics of lower quality. Slang used hip-hop by characters (such as calling the money "bank"), comic cut scenes book, and a lack of police officers also received criticism.
