Will vinyl wall decals damage my wooden dresser?

I found the most adorable vinyl wall decals, but I have textured walls and I can’t use them. I haven’t bought them yet, but I thought maybe a creative way of incorporating them into the room would be to apply them to a large, faux- wooden armoire I have in my room. I have two questions- would this damage the dresser, and would they stick? Please, only answer from experience, not just "common sense" or an "educated guess". Thanks! (:
